Lists: cities, brands and types

Several drop-down lists in the system hold only a name in Arabic and English. They all work the same way, on one kind of screen; the picture shows Vehicle brands. Fill these lists before you add vehicles and drivers, because the vehicle and driver forms pick their values from them.

What’s on this screen

• Add brand (or Add city, Add vehicle type, Add licence type, Add maintenance type, Add fuel type): opens the form to add an item.
• Search by name…: searches both the Arabic and English names.
• Table columns: Arabic name, English name and Used by, the number of records that use the item, with the pencil (edit) and bin (delete) icons.

How to add an item

1. Open the list from the side menu, for example Settings > Vehicle brands.
2. Click Add brand.
3. Type the Arabic name and the English name.
4. Click Save.

How to edit an item

1. Click the pencil icon of the item.
2. Change the names and click Save. The new name shows everywhere the item is used.

How to delete an item

1. Click the bin icon of the item.
2. Click Delete in the confirmation.

Fields

• Arabic name (required): up to 255 characters, and not already used by another item of the same list.
• English name (required): up to 255 characters, and not already used by another item of the same list.

Caution

An item that is still used cannot be deleted. When Used by is above zero, the confirmation says “It cannot be deleted while N records use it”, and the system refuses the delete. Change those records to another item first. A vehicle type is also in use while it has vehicle sub-types.

Note

Each list has its own permissions in the role editor (for example Vehicle brands under Settings, Cities under Administration): List to open it, and Create, Edit and Delete for the actions.
